Welcome to Big Daddy's Gang! Big Daddy's Gang is a group of songwriters that were chosen to attend Barbara Cloyd's "Play for Publishers" workshop in October of 2006. Many of us were attending for the first time and very few of us knew one another. In three short days, however, we became more than just songwriters. The chemistry between these 16 talented writers was unbelievable, and we couldn't just let it end after three days. We decided to call the group "Big Daddy's Gang"...after our fearless leader who broke the ice on the first day. Randy (AKA Big Daddy) was somewhat of an intimidating guy...with his towering build and bright yellow "Big Daddy" t-shirt. But we soon found out that he was probably the most laid back and entertaining guy out of the whole bunch. He warmed up the bunch, entertained us with his humor, and inspired us with his writing abilities. From that day on, the yellow shirt became his symbol. He was "Big Daddy" and we were his family. We learned so much from Barbara's workshop, and she was extremely thoughtful and helpful to all of us. The last night she invited us to her house where we all hung out, enjoyed each other's company, and even laughed at the some hilarous music from one of the gang who was a travelling stand up comedian in his "real life". There was such a diverse group of songwriters at this workshop, and I'm still not sure how everyone became so close. Maybe it's the art of songwriting that brings the likeness out of a group of completely different folks. Maybe it's the music that brings Canada to Atlanta and Arkansas to Tennessee. Whatever it was, it was real...it was fun....and it was going to last. Keep your eyes on Big Daddy's Gang! There's more talent in this circle of songwriters than you can imagine and the possibilities are unthinkable. Wanna link to Big Daddy's Gang?
